Another week of Chill Filtered always means another fun episode. This week’s episode was our first Japanese whisky in a long time: Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt 17yr. A 17 year blended Japanese whisky from Nikka. That’s right! Whisky without an “e”. That’s how the Japanese spell it.
Fun history to this episode. We go into what makes a Japanese whisky (or are there regulations at all??), who Shinjiro Torii was, who Masataka Taketsuru was, what they both did for Japan and the two big competing companies: Suntory and Nikka.
